Warning: This program is not user friendly. If you are unfamiliar with Dr. J's Object Editor or Henry's DAT Maker program, do not attempt to use this program. You could seriously mess up your copy of Rollercoaster Tycoon Two. Neither Mike Young nor Interactivities Ink take responsibility for incorrect use of this program.
All questions can be asked in the forums of RCT2.Com. I check there regularly and will update the directions and FAQ to make them clearer.
Q: Does the ride maker disassemble Wacky Worlds rides?
A: Apparently not. This will be fixed in the next release.
Q: How does the pos.txt file work?
A: When RCT2 draws a ride object, it places it on the screen at a position offset from the middle of the base.
So, if you want the upper left corner of your picture to be at the middle of the base, you would set the pos.txt line for that picture at 0,0. If you want it to be offset up and to the right, say, 100 pixels to the left and 50 pixels up, then you'd set it at -100, -50.
The lines in pos.txt are in the order of the bitmap files, so line 1, maps to pic0.bmp, line 2 maps to pic1.bmp and so forth. If a picture does not have a line in the pos.txt file, it won't be loaded into your new ride.
Q: I created a ride, and I can see a preview, but when I load it into game, I cannot see it. Why?
A: Most likely, the positions for the graphics are set incorrectly in the pos.txt file. You can use Dr. J's Object Editor to look at your ride pics and see.
Q: Can I make a ride that is 4x4 squares from a ride whose base is 3x3?
A: It won't look right. Your ride will be clipped by other objects and the entrances and exits will go through the ride.
